Sabha privacy policy
Sabha (“the app”) is published by ONEK LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have.
In short
- No account is needed, and the app has no sign-in.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no crash-reporting tools.
- We do not sell or share your data.
- Your location is used on your phone to calculate prayer times and the Qibla. It is not sent to our servers, except an optional, rounded position if you choose to include it in a prayer-time or Qibla report (section 4).
- Bookmarks, notes and settings stay on your device.
1. Information that stays on your device
- Bookmarks, ayah notes, reading streak, reader and prayer settings, and your chosen language are stored only on your device.
- Your saved location (coordinates or the city you chose) is stored on your device. Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your device.
- If you have turned on Android backup, Android may copy bookmarks, notes and settings to your own Google account. That backup is controlled by Google and by you, and we cannot access it.
2. Location
- The app asks for location permission (approximate or precise) only while you are using it, and only to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. It never uses location in the background, and you can refuse. In that case you can choose your city by name.
- Your city’s name and your country’s usual calculation method are looked up on your device, in a list of cities built into the app. No location or city name is sent to any service for this.
- Your coordinates are not sent to our servers, with one optional exception: if you send a prayer-time or Qibla report and include your location, a rounded position (2 decimals, about 1 km) is attached (section 4).
3. Information our servers receive
The app downloads Quran text, translations, tafsir, recitation audio and adhan voices from our own server (api.muslimsabha.com). Like any web server, it receives:
- your IP address, the date and time, the address of the content requested (for example, which surah, page or recitation), and your device’s user-agent (device and Android version);
- when you use Search, the words you search for, because they are part of the request.
We use these server logs only to deliver the content, keep the service secure (for example, to rate-limit abuse) and fix errors. They are not linked to any account or identity. We do not combine them with other data, and we keep them only for a short period for security and abuse prevention.
4. Reports you send
If you use “Report a problem” in the app, we receive what you send:
- your message;
- an email address, only if you choose to add one;
- the app version, the app language, your device model and your Android version;
- the screen you were on (for example the surah and ayah);
- for prayer-time and Qibla reports only, and only if you include it: your city, calculation method and settings, and your position rounded to 2 decimals (about 1 km).
We use it only to investigate and fix the issue, and to reply if you left an email address. We do not store your IP address or user-agent with a report. Reports are kept for up to 12 months, or deleted sooner on request at [email protected]. Please do not put sensitive personal information in a report.
4a. Notifications
Adhan alerts and reminders are scheduled on your device. Nothing is sent to us when they are set or when they fire, and marking a prayer as prayed (“I prayed”) stays on your device.
5. What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address (unless you add one to a report, section 4), phone number, contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera data, advertising ID, device identifiers, health data or payment data. We keep no reading history beyond the short-lived server logs in section 3. A report carries your device model and Android version (section 4) but no device identifier.
6. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your information with third parties for advertising or any other purpose. Our server is operated for us by our hosting provider and our content delivery network (Cloudflare), which process these requests only on our instructions. Google Play may collect information about installs and app stability under Google’s own privacy policy.
7. Security
All connections between the app and our server are encrypted (HTTPS). The app refuses unencrypted connections.
8. Children
Sabha is suitable for a general audience but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app collects no personal information from any user beyond what is described in sections 3 and 4.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. The only data we hold is the short-lived server log described in section 3 and any reports you send (section 4). Because the logs are not linked to an identity, we usually cannot find a specific person’s entries, and they are kept only for a short period in any case. You can contact us at [email protected] with any request and we will answer within 30 days.
Legal bases (GDPR): location is used on your device with your permission. Server logs are processed under our legitimate interest in delivering and securing the service.
10. Accounts and account deletion
The app currently has no user accounts. If we introduce optional accounts (for example, to sync bookmarks), we will update this policy first. We will also provide a way to delete your account and its data both inside the app and on our website, without needing to reinstall the app.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also mention it in the app’s release notes.
